Hello Students & Parents,

We are so honored that you would consider Pottshouse Music School for music instruction. It brings us great joy to share what we know about music and watch you use your abilities to your full potential. No matter what skill level you currently have, we believe that with hard work, determination, and patience - you will progress faster than you can imagine!

Our studio offers multiple paths for learning your instrument(s), including:

Weekly 30-minute private lessons (for piano, voice, guitar, drums, or bass)

Weekly 45-minute private lessons (for piano, voice, guitar, drums, or bass)

Weekly 60-minute private lessons (for piano, voice, guitar, drums or bass)

Group Classes:  Guitar Ninjas, Piano Group, Homeschool Chorus Group, and Songwriting.

Multiple teachers are also available to determine the best fit. Our complimentary free trial lesson offers the opportunity for us to assess the needs and desires of the student.  The tuition amount will be determined and communicated at that time.

OUR RESPONSIBILITIES

We will teach students the language of music in a positive and enthusiastic environment. It is our goal to empower each student to influence their music education with input based on their interest and long-term goals. We will tailor the curriculum to match each student's specific learning needs. We will provide a weekly assignment sheet to let you know exactly what to practice during the week.

STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES

Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their assignment sheets (that we provide), music, and instrument. A keyboard will be provided in the studio for piano lessons. Please silence cell phones during lessons. Guitarists, please keep fingernails trimmed so that the nails do not extend past the end of the fingers. To make notable progress, a minimum of 4 days with 10-15 minutes of quality practice is necessary. If there are any questions about home assignments, please don’t hesitate to ask so that the student and parents can completely understand the assignments and goals.

Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let us know. The more information we have, the more we can be sensitive to the needs of your child.

All students are encouraged to participate in recitals and take advantage of auditions for local ensembles and competitions. If a special opportunity arises, please bring information to the next lesson so that we can help your student prepare.

Students must have their own instrument to practice at home. If you have questions or would like input on the purchase of an instrument please let us know. We are happy to set appointments to meet the student and their family for instrument trials and make specific recommendations.

TUITION AND FEE SCHEDULE

TUITION:
The cost of lessons or classes are determined at a Trial Lesson based on the student's goals, which instrument they are learning, and which instructor they are assigned to.  Tuition is a monthly flat rate that pays for the following:

• The allotted time spent with student

• Reserved time slot for student

• Time spent researching and preparing music for lessons

• Administrative costs and time

• Studio expenses

• Supplies and tools

Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot whether or not they attend their lesson.  Payments received 7 days after the invoice date are subject to a $10 late fee. Payment received after the 7th of the following month is subject to an additional $10 late fee and the lesson time for that student may not be reserved for the next month. Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student’s enrollment.

ONE TIME REGISTRATION FEE:  To officially register with our studio, there is a one time registration fee of $80. This will provide your first set of books, other necessary items for lessons, and cover the time spent administratively for onboarding.

ANNUAL ADMINISTRATIVE FEE:  The annual administrative fee of $30 per family to help cover administrative costs, rental fees for special events, and general overhead costs incurred to keep our studio running.  You will be given a 1 month notice of when this fee is due.

Payments are set to auto-pay and are due on the first of each month.  You will receive an automated email with your monthly invoice on the first, which is when the automatic draft will occur.  Please be sure to check invoices for any errors.

GUITAR NINJAS GRADING FEE:  Once a student completes the checklist found at the front of their workbook, a grading fee of $30 will be applied to the following month’s tuition to cover the cost of their new book and their new strap.

LESSON CANCELLATION POLICY

Please offer a 24 hour notice of any known absences if at all possible by contacting your teacher directly.  The further advance notice, the better chance the teachers have to find an open slot on the schedule to accommodate a missed lesson.  If the student is sick, or anyone else in your home is sick, please do not bring them to the studio.

NO MAKEUP POLICY

Regular attendance is expected and encouraged in order to gain maximum benefit from music instruction. Missed lessons are inevitable and, therefore, have been taken into account in the overall cost of tuition. No credits or refunds are given for missed lessons. Tuition remains consistent regardless of the number of lessons attended.

Please also note that your instructor may cancel lessons from time to time for various reasons including (but not limited to) personal illness, family emergency, or professional travel. Although planning and scheduling is done ahead of time (see calendar), an exact number of lessons for each year cannot be guaranteed. The inevitability of missed lessons on the part of the student or the teacher have already been considered in the formulation of tuition.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY

We understand that circumstances may change and you may need to withdraw from lessons. To withdraw, we require a written notice of at least one month before the desired withdrawal date. If less than one month's notice is given, an additional month of tuition fees will be charged.  No refunds will be issued for tuitions already paid. However, you may finish lessons for the paid month.

MUSIC & MATERIALS

Each student is responsible for purchasing the required music and materials for lessons. Materials will be assigned by the instructor and the student will be expected to have the materials no later than two weeks after the materials have been assigned. Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible.

COMMITMENT

When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the agreed time slot. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by- base basis each month before tuition is due. If the student decides to pause lessons, tuition still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.
